Weekly Recap: 12/21 - 12/27

My Super Exciting Life

I guess I should begin this recap with an apology for being so scarce lately. I went on an awesome vacation with my mom to Disney World last week and was totally missing from the blog even though I tried really hard not to be! This week has been almost equally busy and I've been sick. :-( In fact, I was supposed to go have Christmas with my mom's side of the family, followed by the Nutcracker ballet yesterday, but woke up with a high fever and couldn't make it. Fingers crossed that I'm finally better!

Christmas with my parents has been high stress, but a lot of fun! We spent Christmas Eve with my dad's side playing Dirty Santa. And you know you're from North Carolina when your aunts and uncles decide to get fried chicken for Christmas dinner... Christmas day was spent with my parents and brother. We had a nice, home cooked breakfast and dinner and opened tons of gifts. The day after Christmas was "Christmas" with our close family friends and then yesterday... well, I already told you about that.

My husband, bless his heart, is on his way to Hawaii on a tanker. His new company sails between Hawaii, California, and Oregon, and I know he must be hating it (/sarcasm). Seriously though, it has been an interesting holiday season without him around. Hopefully he'll actually get to be home next Christmas!

So that's about it for this week. Pretty soon I'll be packing up and heading back to my apartment. As long as I'm not too sick, I'll be spending New Year's with my brother this year - and he lives next to an awesome used book store!

New Books Finds

This week was kind of a bookish emotional roller coaster. I got one book for Christmas from my brother and none from anyone else! So I shopped the Boxing Day Sale at bookoutlet.com and got my own book gifts! Hush, Hush sold out before I could buy it, so I got a used copy from Amazon... and a couple more. I'm really hoping it doesn't take as long as my last order to come in (almost a month)... I'll definitely post pics when everything gets here! I also got to use a $10 promotional gift card at Barnes and Noble to get Cruel Beauty!
