Weekly Recap: 6/29 - 7/4

My Super Exciting Life

This was basically one of the WORST reading weeks ever. I don't know what came over me. I signed up for a read-a-thon and failed so miserably I can't even believe myself. I read pieces of several books, only finishing Sweet at the very last Saturday minute. Next week I'm really hoping I do better!

I do have an excuse (kind of) for being such a lazy reader this week. My mom got here on Tuesday and left on Friday, so I was pretty distracted hanging out and -not- reading. Whoops! We got pizza, watched Bates Motel, and went thrift shopping! Hurray!

But what I'm really excited about this week is that I started my Camp NaNoWriMo project! Honestly, I didn't know if I'd ever even start it. I've had ideas about writing this book for years, but I've always hesitated to sit down and actually start writing. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe I thought I wouldn't finish? And maybe I won't finish! Maybe I'll get 5,000 words in and give up forever... but maybe I won't! To all my other aspiring author friends, let me share a quote I found with you on Meg Cabot's website:
That is the difference between someone who WANTS to write, and someone who DOES write. The person who FINDS the time is the one who is going to become a writer. The person who doesn’t, won’t.
Truth: that quote is what snapped me out of it and forced me to sit down and JUST WRITE! Here's hoping I actually power through!

My one Camp complaint is that my cabin is deathly quiet. Is that how all cabins are or is mine just... special? Does anyone have an opening for a new cabin member or know if it's possible to request a new one?
