Down the TBR Hole #6

Hi everyone! I'm back again with another edition of my TBR purge. I've made a tiny bit of progress, although I'll admit I've accidentally added a few new books. Whoops!

The Down the TBR Hole meme was started by Lost In a Story and it is the most perfect tool for cleaning off shelves that I've come across. Here's how it works:
  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

THE BOOKS

HUMAN REMAINS BY ELIZABETH HAYNES

Hmm, this one sounds interesting! I actually really enjoyed the one other book I read by this author, which included an MC with OCD and anxiety. This one follows a woman who wonders if anyone would notice if she died in her own house. I think I'm going to have to pick it up soon, actually! VERDICT: KEEP

THE JEWEL BY AMY EWING

This is one of the first books I added when it was coming out! The Jewel caught my eye with its great cover and interesting synopsis. While I never did get around to reading it, I think I may keep this on my TBR because it's a dystopian book and, though there were a million being published in 2014, there are far too few now. VERDICT: KEEP

OF BEAST AND BEAUTY BY STACEY JAY

I added this way back when after I discovered that I was obsessed with retellings. This is one I actually have on my physical TBR shelf and have meant to get around to forever. It sounds interesting, but I worry that I may have read and loved too many BatB retellings to fully enjoy this one. I'll still be giving it a chance at some point, though. VERDICT: KEEP

THE ENEMY BY CHARLIE HIGSON

Another dystopia book! But this one is more zombies and less fantasy. Alas, I am sick to death of zombies, even after a few years of not reading about them. There was a time when I found zombie books enjoyable, but that day has passed. I just don't think this one is for me. VERDICT: PASS

ALIENATED BY MELISSA LANDERS

I remember when this book was HYPED! Aliens weren't my thing then and they still really aren't my thing now. I've read a lot of reviews for Alienated and it sounds a bit too young for my tastes. I'm just not into it. :/ VERDICT: PASS

This is my worst week yet! I only got rid of 2 of 5 books, but the good news is my TBR is now down to 389!

What have you added or deleted from your TBR lately?
What did you used to enjoy that you're over now?
