Retellings Reading Challenge: First Quarter Update & Link-up

Hi, bookworms! Welcome to the first quarter update and link-up of the 2019 Retellings Reading Challenge! I hope you've all made some progress and read some amazing retellings so far this year! As a reminder, this challenge is still open to join! To get started, I'll share my progress so far:

WHAT I'VE READ

The first book I read for the challenge was Stain, a retelling of The Princess and the Pea (review here). This book was everything I hoped it would be and more! A.G. Howard never disappoints! Next I read East, a retelling of East of the Sun West of the Moon, although I admit I didn't make it all the way through (review here). I did, however, read nearly 300 pages before giving up, so I'm counting it. I'm just going to say that if you read the equivalent of a book before DNFing, it counts. Then I read Last of Her Name, an Anastasia retelling set in space (review here)! I didn't love this as much as I wanted to, but it was definitely unique. Finally, I read The Cold is in Her Bones, a retelling of Medusa. I loved the first book I read by this author and this was even better! No review yet, but stay tuned.

GOODREADS GROUP UPDATES

In case you missed it, we also have a group on Goodreads where we discuss books we've been reading, share suggestions to fill bingo spaces, and do a group read each month. You can join the group HERE if you haven't already! Here's what we've read so far, as well as our upcoming read for this month:

Each month the group nominates a bingo topic to group read, then we nominate books based on that topic. Finally, we vote on which book to read and discuss throughout the month. For January, we voted to read Girls Made of Snow and Glass to fill the Brothers Grimm space. The Storm Runner was our February read and filled the Native American Mythology space. For March we'll be reading Heart of Iron, an Anastasia retelling, to fill the Russian folklore space.
